Heat Warning in effect for:
A period with maximum daily temperatures near or exceeding 29C, with minimum overnight lows near or exceeding 16C is underway in portions of northern Manitoba. The heat is expected to diminish on Saturday evening associated with a cold frontal passage.
Regions over southern Manitoba will experience similar heat, however southern Manitoba requires higher temperatures to meet heat warning criteria.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Check on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Watch for the symptoms of heat illness: dizziness/fainting; nausea/vomiting; rapid breathing and heartbeat; extreme thirst; decreased urination with unusually dark urine.
