Conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms this evening across portions of the central and northern interior as well as sections of the Eastern Kootenays. The potential exists that some of these thunderstorms may become severe this evening. The main threats from these storms are large hail, damaging wind gusts, intense lightning, and heavy downpours.

In addition, an area low pressure will develop over Northwestern United States, and slowly approach Southern British Columbia. Widespread rain is expected to develop across the British Columbia Interior early Wednesday morning. With this ample supply of moisture and the slow moving nature of the low, heavy rainfalls are likely across the British Columbia Interior. Widespread rainfall totals of 40 to 60 mm is expected over a two day period with locally higher amounts possible especially where rain is enhanced by local topography.
