Technical Marine SynopsisIssued 8:00 PM AST 26 November 2014 Tonight and Thursday At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over Cape Breton Island.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Thursday ridge located on a line
northwest-southeast over southern Labrador.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight intensifying low 1000 mb located south
of Long Island.
By 8:00 a.m. AST Thursday low 992 mb located over Lurcher.
At 8:00 p.m. AST Thursday departing low 993 mb located over
Marine Weather StatementIssued 8:01 PM AST 26 November 2014 An intensifying low pressure system approaching from the southwest is
forecast to track along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia on Thursday
and lie over Southern Newfoundland by Thursday evening. Strong to
gale force northeasterlies are expected ahead of and north of the
lows track while strong to gale force southwesterlies are forecast to
its south. In addition freezing spray will develop over Anticosti
Thursday evening as temperatures fall and strong northerly winds
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters. A freezing spray warning is in effect for Anticosti.
Outlook for the start up of the Southwest Nova lobster fishery:
Thursday..Wind southwest 25 to 35 knots veering to northwest 25 to 30
near noon then diminishing to north 15 to 20 in the evening. Seas 3
to 4 metres building to 4 to 6 Thursday morning and then subsiding to
3 to 4 Thursday evening.
Friday..Wind north 15 to 20 knots. Seas one to 2 metres.
Saturday..Wind northwest 10 to 15 knots diminishing to light in the
morning. Wind increasing to southwest 15 to 20 late in the day.
Seas near one metre.
