Marine Weather StatementIssued 7:48 PM AST 27 November 2014 A low pressure system over Newfoundland will continue to track
eastward tonight. Strong to gale force southwesterlies south of the
lows track become strong to gale force north to northwesterlies
behind the low. Winds will gradually diminish to strong northerlies
in the wake of the low. In addition freezing spray has developed over
Anticosti this evening.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Fourchu, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Banquereau,
Laurentian Fan, Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen,
Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti.
A freezing spray warning is in effect for Anticosti.
Outlook for the start up of the Southwest Nova lobster fishery:
Today..Wind northwest 20 to 25 diminishing to north 15 this evening.
Seas 3 to 4 metres subsiding to 3 to 4 this evening.
Friday..Wind northeast 15 to 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 metres subsiding
to 1 to 2 in the afternoon.
Saturday..Wind northwest 15 to 20 knots diminishing to light in the
afternoon. Seas 1 to 2 metres.
