Marine Weather StatementIssued 8:06 PM ADT 27 August 2014 A trough of low pressure approaching the marine district from the
northwest will slide slowly southeastward to lie over Nova Scotia on
Thursday. Behind the trough strong to gale force northeasterlies are
expected to develop later on Thursday over Chaleur-Miscou and
Anticosti as well as over the northwest half of Gulf-Magdalen.
Tropical cyclone information: as of 9:00 PM ADT Wednesday hurricane
Cristobal will be located near 33.9 north, 70.6 west with maximum
sustained winds of 65 knots. Cristobal is currently moving northeast
at 13 knots and is expected to accelerate on Thursday. At this time
Cristobal is expected to remain well south of the Maritimes marine
district. However gales or storms may be issued for the southern
sections of East Scotian Slope or Laurentian Fan for Thursday
Mariners are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Gulf-Magdalen- northwestern half..Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti.
