Marine Weather StatementIssued 3:06 AM ADT 28 August 2014 A trough of low pressure over the Gulf of St Lawrence at forecast
issue time will continue to slide slowly southeastward to lie over
Nova Scotia later today. Behind the trough strong to gale force
northeasterlies are expected to develop beginning this afternoon over
Anticosti, Chaleur-Miscou and Northeastern Gulf-Magdalen.
Tropical cyclone information: as of 3:00 AM ADT Thursday hurricane
Cristobal is located near 35.2 north, 69.3 west with maximum
sustained winds of 65 knots. Cristobal is currently moving northeast
at 17 knots. At this time Cristobal is expected to remain well south
of the Maritimes marine district affecting only the extreme
southeastern waters. Northeasterly gales associated with Cristobal
will begin over Laurentian Fan - southeastern half overnight tonight.
Mariners are advised that gale warnings are in effect for eastern
Shore - eastern half..Sable - eastern half..Fourchu..Banquereau..
Laurentian Fan..Cabot Strait..Northumberland Strait - eastern half..
Gulf-Magdalen..Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti.
