Marine Weather StatementIssued 9:59 AM AST 21 November 2014 A low pressure system over Northern Newfoundland will intensify today
as it tracks northeastward into the Labrador Sea tonight. A cold
front from this system will sweep the district today. Strong
southerly winds ahead of the cold front will shift to strong to gale
force northwesterlies in its wake. On Saturday a strong ridge of high
pressure sliding southwest of the district will back winds to strong
to gale force southwesterlies over western waters late in the day.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
marine waters. A freezing spray warning is in effect for western half
Outlook for the start up of the Southwest Nova lobster fishery.
Sunday..Wind westerly 25 to 30 knots diminishing to west 15 to 20 in
the afternoon and to 10 to 15 in the evening.
Monday..Wind south 15 to 20 knots increasing to south 25 to 30 in the
afternoon and to 30 to 40 late in the day.
Tuesday..Southwesterly 30 knots.
