Technical Marine SynopsisIssued 3:30 PM NDT 16 April 2014 Tonight and Thursday At 3:30 p.m. NDT today deepening low 979 mb located over
northwestern Labrador Sea.
By 10:00 a.m. NDT Thursday departing low 966 mb located northeast
of Labrador Sea.
At 3:30 p.m. NDT today cold front from 979 mb low located over
the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 10:00 a.m. NDT Thursday departing cold front located east of
Funk Island Bank.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 3:28 PM NDT 16 April 2014 A low pressure system over the Northwest Labrador Sea will track
northeastward tonight. A trailing cold front will move across
Newfoundland tonight and will move east of the district on Thursday.
Strong to gale force southerlies ahead of the cold front today will
veer to strong to gale force westerlies with its passage. Winds will
begin to subside on Thursday as a ridge of high pressure approaches
from the west.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Gulf, Gulf - Port au Port, Southwest
Coast, East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Gulf, Gulf - Port au Port,
Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
