Issued 3:00 AM ADT 29 August 2014 Today Tonight and Saturday At 3:00 a.m. ADT today trough located over southeastern
Newfoundland.
By 3:00 p.m. ADT today merging trough located on a line
northeast-southwest over the northern Grand Banks.

At 3:00 a.m. ADT today Hurricane Cristobal 970 mb located at
41.0N 53.7W.
By 9:00 a.m. ADT today Hurricane Cristobal 968 mb located at
43.6N 50.4W.

At 3:00 a.m. ADT today ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over Quebec.
By 9:00 p.m. ADT tonight ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over New Brunswick.
 

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:09 AM ADT 29 August 2014 A trough of low pressure over Southeastern Newfoundland at forecast
time will continue to slide slowly southeastward this morning and
then merge with hurricane Cristobal this afternoon. Strong to gale
force northeasterlies have developed over eastern waters behind the
trough.

Tropical cyclone information: as of 3:00 AM ADT Friday hurricane
Cristobal was located near latitude 41.0 north longitude 53.7 west.
Maximum sustained winds are estimated at 75 knots and central
pressure at 970 MB. Cristobal is moving east northeast at 43 knots.
Northeasterly gales associated with Cristobal will end over
Southeastern Laurentian Fan early this morning however northerly
gales will redevelop over the Laurentian Fan this afternoon as a
trough pulls out of the region.

Mariners interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Eastern shore - eastern half...Sable - eastern half...Fourchu...
Banquereau...Laurentian Fan...Cabot Strait...Northumberland Strait...
Gulf Magdalen...Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti - southeastern half.
