Marine Weather StatementIssued 10:06 AM NDT 17 September 2014 At 10:00 A.M. NDT hurricane Edouard was located near 35.7 north, 54.3
west. Edouard is moving northeastward at 17 knots with a maximum
sustained winds of 80 knots and a central pressure of 967 MB.
Edouard is forecast continue to track northeastward today and pass
southeast of the Grand Banks tonight and into Thursday. At this time
its highest impact from a wind perspective is expected to be strong
northeast to northerly winds over the Southern Grand Banks.
Long period swells near 2 meters generated by Edouard are expected to
begin arriving along the South Coast of Newfoundland this evening,
which may result in breaking waves and pounding surf along parts of
the coastline. However since the tidal cycle is nearing a low point,
the impacts are not expected to be as significant as they would be at
higher points in the tidal cycle.
