Marine Weather StatementIssued 2:54 AM NST 18 December 2013 Strong to gale force northwesterlies over northeastern waters will
diminish this morning as a ridge builds in from the west.
Meanwhile, an intensifying low pressure system is expected to
approach from the southwest on Wednesday. The low will cross Central
Newfoundland on Wednesday night and continue northeastward across the
Funk Island Bank on Thursday. Gale to storm force easterlies ahead of
the low will switch to gale to hurricane force westerlies behind it.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south,
and Northern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in effect for Southwest
Coast, East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Funk
Island Bank and the Southern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect
for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast - north of
Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island
