Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:53 AM PDT 16 April 2014 A frontal system currently lies northwest to southeast across
Southern Haida Gwaii. Ahead of the warm front, strong to gale force
southerly winds will develop from Cape Scott, through Hecate Strait
and to just off Langara late this morning.

Winds are forecast to back to strong southwesterly following the warm
frontal passage as the front continues northeastward toward the
Alaskan Panhandle.

A second impulse is expected to generate another round of gale force
winds with the approach of a cold front late today. An increase in
southerly winds can be expected over Explorer late this afternoon.
Gale force winds are forecast to spread toward the mainland coast
this evening affecting waters from Hecate Strait south to areas west
of Vancouver Island.
