Technical Marine Synopsis
Issued 10:30 AM PDT 22 May 2013 Today Tonight and Thursday At 10:30 a.m. PDT today quasi-stationary ridge located west ofthe offshore waters.
At 10:30 a.m. PDT today trough located over BC interior.
By 11:00 a.m. PDT Thursday trough located on a line north-south
over Cape Scott.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 10:28 AM PDT 22 May 2013 A strong ridge of high pressure remains just outside the offshorewaters while a trough of low pressure remains over the province.
Strong northwesterlies will prevail over most areas with widespread
gales offshore again today. Winds will gradually ease today and
Thursday as both the ridge and the trough weaken, with local gales
persisting over the central offshore waters and near Southern Haida
Gwaii until Thursday afternoon. The trough will shift back and forth
across the Central Coast today and Thursday, causing some locally
strong southeasterlies at times, near Northern Vancouver Island and
the Central Coast. Meanwhile, winds will remain mostly light to
moderate over the inner South Coast.
