Marine Weather StatementIssued 3:34 AM PST 7 March 2014 A ridge of high pressure over the Northern BC Interior will continue
to weaken today. A strong Pacific frontal system approaching the
offshore waters will move onto the North Coast this evening and then
onto the Central Coast on Saturday. In addition, a 970 MB low will
traverse northward off Northern Bowie tonight.
Over northern and central waters and near Northern Vancouver Island
strong to gale force southeast winds will rise to gale to storm force
southeast by this afternoon. Winds will then ease to strong to gale
force southerlies in the wake of the front. However, gale to storm
force southerlies will occur off Haida Gwaii tonight as the low
passes by. In addition, gale force northeasterly outflow winds will
occur near Portland Inlet this morning. Elsewhere over southern
waters winds will rise to strong to gale force southeasterlies by
