Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 10:00 AM NST 12 February 2016 Today Tonight and Saturday At 10:00 a.m. NST today low 996 mb located over the southwestern
Grand Banks.
By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight departing low 994 mb located east of the
Grand Banks.

By 3:30 p.m. NST Saturday approaching low 980 mb located over
Banquereau.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:50 AM NST 12 February 2016 A low pressure system over the Southwestern Grand Banks will track
eastward across the Grand Banks today. A small area of gale force
southwesterly winds is expected just south of the low, with the
potential to produce wind gusts nearing storm force. The low will
quickly exit the marine district by this evening.

Meanwhile, a second very intense low pressure system will move into
Banquereau Saturday afternoon and track through Southeastern
Newfoundland Saturday night. Winds will increase to gale force
easterlies over southern waters ahead of this system.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast, and the Grand Banks.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Southwest Coast, East
Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank
and Funk Island Bank.
