northwest-southeast over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 3:30 p.m. NDT Thursday trough located on a line
northwest-southeast over the Northeast Coast of Newfoundland.

At 9:30 p.m. NDT tonight Hurricane Gert 970 mb located at 39.2N
61.2W.
By 9:30 p.m. NDT Thursday Hurricane Gert 980 mb located at 46.0N
45.3W.

At 8:00 p.m. NDT tonight departing ridge located on a line
northwest-southeast over eastern Funk Island Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:54 PM NDT 16 August 2017 At 9:30 P.M. NDT hurricane Gert is forecast to be near latitude 39.2
north longitude 61.2 west, or about 340 nautical miles
south-southeast of Halifax. Gert is moving east-northeastward at
about 28 knots with a central pressure of 970 MB.

Gert is forecast to track across the southern boundary of the
Southern Grand Banks on Thursday as a transitioning post-tropical
system. A brief period of gale to storm force northeasterlies is
forecast to spread over the southernmost waters ahead of Gert, and
then shift to strong to gale force northwesterlies in its wake.
Gert also has the potential to bring high swells to southeastern
coastal Newfoundland.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
the Southeastern Grand Banks - southern half. A gale warning is in
effect for the Southwestern Grand Banks - southern half.
