By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight departing ridge located over Greenland.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today low 1002 mb located over the southwestern
By 10:00 a.m. NST Saturday departing low 990 mb located northeast
of the Marine District.
At 3:00 a.m. NST Saturday approaching low 990 mb located southwest
of Nova Scotia.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 9:57 AM NST 30 January 2015 A low pressure system over the Southwestern Grand Banks will move
northeastward to pass over the Eastern Avalon Peninsula this
afternoon before reaching the Belle Isle Bank tonight. Strong to gale
force northeasterlies north of the low will spread northwards through
the eastern marine district today to reach the Belle Isle Bank by
tonight. Strong to gale force southerlies to the east and southeast
of the low will shift to strong westerlies in its wake.
A second low pressure system will move northward and approach the
marine district late on Saturday. Strong to gale force easterlies are
forecast to develop late Saturday ahead of this feature over
southwestern portions of the marine district.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect all
waters except the Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Coast - north of
Cape St. John, and the Southwestern Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for the Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Gulf, Gulf - Port au
Port, Northeast Coast and the Belle Isle Bank.
