Marine Weather StatementIssued 9:52 AM ADT 19 September 2017 Strong to gale force southeast winds will develop Wednesday afternoon
ahead of approaching hurricane Jose. Marine interests are advised
that gale warnings have been issued for Georges Bank and West Scotian
Slope - southwestern half.
At 9:00 AM ADT hurricane Jose is located near 36.6 north and 71.5
west with a central pressure of 972 MB. The maximum wind speed is 65
knots. Jose is moving north at 8 knots.
Jose is expected to maintain hurricane status until Wednesday when it
should weaken to a tropical storm as it continues to track northward.
Jose is then forecast to make a turn to the east giving gale force to
possible storm force winds for southwestern marine waters. Increasing
wave heights and long period swells ahead of Jose will reach the
Atlantic and Fundy coastlines today.
