By 3:00 a.m. NDT Thursday quasi-stationary trough located on a
line east-west over the South Coast of Newfoundland.

At 3:30 p.m. NDT today quasi-stationary trough located on a line
east-west over southern Labrador Sea.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:24 PM NDT 31 August 2016 At 3:30 P.M. NDT, hurricane Gaston is located near 34.5 degrees north
and 48.2 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 100 knots. Minimum
central pressure is about 960 MB. It is currently moving
northeastward at 13 knots.

Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian waters.

At 3:30 P.M. NDT, tropical depression eight is located near 35.7
degrees north and 72.8 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30
knots. Minimum central pressure is about 1011 MB. It is currently
moving northeastward at 8 knots.

The depression may become a tropical storm tonight and is forecast to
cross the Southern Grand Banks on Friday.
