Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:30 PM NDT 30 August 2016 Tonight and Wednesday At 3:30 p.m. NDT today low 986 mb located over southern Funk
Island Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NDT Wednesday departing low 984 mb located south
of Greenland.

By 3:00 a.m. NDT Wednesday approaching ridge located south of
the Maritimes.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:28 PM NDT 30 August 2016 An intense low pressure system over the southern half of Funk Island
Bank will continue to track eastwards tonight to lie south of
Greenland tomorrow morning. Gale to storm force southwesterlies to
northwesterlies in the wake of the low will gradually diminish
tonight and tomorrow.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis and the Northern Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for South Coast, East Coast - Cape St.
Francis and south, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank - southern half,
Funk Island Bank, and the Southern Grand Banks.

At 3:30 P.M. NDT, hurricane Gaston is located near 32.4 degrees north
and 52.4 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 90 knots. Minimum
central pressure is about 968 MB. It is currently moving
east-northeastward at 7 knots.

Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian forecast waters.

At 3:30 P.M. NDT, tropical depression eight is located near 34.2
degrees north and 75.3 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30
knots. Minimum central pressure is about 1011 MB. It is currently
quasi-stationary.

The depression is forecast to become a tropical storm later tonight,
and is forecast to cross the Southern Grand Banks on Friday.
