Issued 8:00 PM NDT 28 August 2016 Tonight and Monday At 8:00 p.m. NDT tonight ridge located over the Maritimes.
By 3:30 p.m. NDT Monday ridge located southeast of the Grand Banks.

At 8:00 p.m. NDT tonight deepening low 1013 mb located over
southern Quebec.
By 8:00 p.m. NDT Monday deepening low 1000 mb located over the
Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:51 PM NDT 28 August 2016 A low pressure system over Southern Quebec will deepen as it tracks
eastward to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence by Monday evening, then
moves across Newfoundland on Monday night. Strong southwesterly to
northeasterly winds ahead of the low will shift to strong to gale
force northwesterlies on Monday evening in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that a gale warning is in effect for
Gulf-Port au Port.

At 8:00 PM NDT, hurricane Gaston is located near 30.8 degrees north
and 55.1 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 100 knots. Minimum
central pressure is about 962 MB. It is currently moving northwest at
4 knots.

Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian forecast waters.

At 8:00 PM NDT, tropical depression eight is located near 31.8
degrees north and 70.9 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30
knots. Minimum central pressure is about 1010 MB. It is currently
moving west at 8 knots.

The depression is expected to become tropical storm Hermine on
Monday. At this time, it is too soon to determine what, if any,
impacts it will have on Canadian waters.
