By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight departing ridge located over Greenland.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 3:28 PM NST 30 January 2015 A low pressure system just south of the Avalon Peninsula will move
northeastward to reach the Belle Isle Bank tonight. Strong to gale
force northerlies to easterlies will spread northwards ahead of the
low. Strong to gale force southerlies to the east and southeast of
the low will shift to strong westerlies in its wake.
A second low pressure system will move northward and approach the
marine district late on Saturday. Strong to gale force easterlies are
forecast to develop late Saturday ahead of this feature over
southwestern portions of the marine district.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters except the Strait of Belle Isle, South Coast, East Coast,
Northeast Coast - north of Cape St. John, and the Southwestern Grand
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for the Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Gulf, Gulf - Port au
Port, Northeast Coast and the Belle Isle Bank.
