Issued 3:00 AM NDT 29 August 2016 Today Tonight and Tuesday At 3:00 a.m. NDT today ridge located south of Newfoundland.
By 3:30 p.m. NDT today departing ridge located southeast of the
Grand Banks.

At 3:00 a.m. NDT today deepening low 1009 mb located over southern
Quebec.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Tuesday deepening low 990 mb located over central
Newfoundland.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:03 AM NDT 29 August 2016 A low pressure system over Southern Quebec will deepen as it tracks
eastward to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence by this evening, then
moves across Newfoundland tonight. Strong southwesterly to
northeasterly winds ahead of the low will shift to gale to storm
force northwesterlies in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
the Northeast Coast. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters except Belle Isle Bank - northern half.

At 3:00 AM NDT, hurricane Gaston is located near 30.6 degrees north
and 55.1 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 105 knots. Minimum
central pressure is about 957 MB. It is currently nearly stationary.

Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian forecast waters.

At 3:00 AM NDT, tropical depression eight is located near 32.4
degrees north and 72.5 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30
knots. Minimum central pressure is about 1010 MB. It is currently
moving west-northwest at 9 knots.

The depression is expected to become a tropical storm this evening.
At this time, it is too soon to determine what, if any, impacts it
will have on Canadian waters.
