Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:48 AM ADT 30 August 2016 A low pressure system moving across Newfoundland will move off to the
east today. Strong to gale force northwesterlies will will diminish

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Banquereau, Cabot Strait, Gulf Magdalen, and Anticosti.

At 3 AM ADT, hurricane Gaston is located near 31.7 degrees north
And 54.4 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 90 knots. Minimum
central pressure is about 968 MB. Gaston is moving northeast at 5

Note that Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian waters.

As of 3:00 AM ADT tropical depression 8 is located near 33.9 degrees
north and 74.3 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30 knots.
Minimum central pressure is about 1011 MB. It is currently moving
northwest at 4 knots.

The depression could become a tropical storm today. There is
uncertainty about the development of the storm, and whether it will
have any effect on Canadian waters. There are some indications it may
dissipate before reaching our waters.
