Synopsis

Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 8:00 PM NST 12 February 2016 Tonight and Saturday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight departing low 1001 mb located east of
the Grand Banks.

By 3:30 p.m. NST Saturday approaching low 980 mb located over
Banquereau.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:52 PM NST 12 February 2016 A low pressure system east of the Grand Banks will continue away from
the region tonight. A small area of gale force southwesterly winds is
expected just south of the low, with the potential to produce wind
gusts nearing storm force.

Meanwhile, a second intense low pressure system will move into
Banquereau Saturday afternoon and track through Southeastern
Newfoundland Saturday night. Winds will increase to gale force
easterlies over southern waters ahead of this system. Gale to storm
force southerlies are expected south of this system late on Saturday.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
the Southwestern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast, the Northern Grand Banks
and the Southeastern Grand Banks.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Southwest Coast, East
Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank
and Funk Island Bank.
