Rain and fog banks ending near noon with a risk of thunderstorms. Rain and fog banks overnight and Wednesday morning. Showers beginning Wednesday evening.

Temperatures zero to plus 6 rising to plus 8 this afternoon then falling to plus 2 Wednesday afternoon.

Issued 3:00 AM NST 9 February 2016 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 978 mb located near Sable Island.
By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight dissipating low 990 mb located near the
Avalon Peninsula.

At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough from 978 mb low located over the
southern Grand Banks.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday trough located from the Gulf of
St. Lawrence to Funk Island Bank.

At 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday low 982 mb located south of Newfoundland.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Wednesday low 973 mb located over Funk Island Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:50 AM NST 9 February 2016 An intense low pressure system near Sable Island and its associated
trough lying south of the Grand Banks will track northeastward to
cross Southeastern Newfoundland this evening. Gale to storm force
east to northeasterlies ahead of this system will shift to gale force
southwesterlies to its south. Gale force northeasterlies will persist
ahead of the trough throughout Wednesday.

A second low pressure system will approach from the southwest tonight
and cross over the Avalon Peninsula Wednesday to lie over Funk Island
Bank Wednesday night. Gale to storm force south to southwesterlies
are forecast to develop to the southeast of the low.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
the Southwest Coast, South Coast, and the Southern Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, Belle
Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
