Marine Weather StatementIssued 10:00 AM NDT 16 August 2017 As of 10:00 A.M. NDT hurricane Gert is located at latitude 37.0 north
longitude 67.4 west, or 414 nautical miles south of Yarmouth. Gert is
moving east-northeastward at 18 knots with a central pressure of 974
Gert is forecast to track just south of the Southern Grand Banks on
Thursday as a transitioning post-tropical system. A brief period of
gale force northeasterlies is forecast to spread over the
southernmost waters ahead of Gert, and then shift to strong to gale
force northwesterlies in its wake. Gert also has the potential to
bring high swells to southeastern coastal Newfoundland.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for the
Southeastern Grand Banks - southern half and the Southwestern Grand
Banks - southern half.
