Marine Weather StatementIssued 8:01 PM NST 13 February 2016 An intense low pressure system near the Avalon Peninsula will
continue to track northeastward to lie northeast of Belle Isle Bank
Sunday afternoon. Gale force northeasterlies ahead of the low will
spread to northern waters tonight. Gale to storm force southerlies to
the right of the low's track will diminish to strong to gale force
southwesterlies this evening. Winds will shift to strong to gale
force northwesterlies over northern waters as the low departs the
district late Sunday.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
the Southeastern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters except Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, South
Coast - Cape St. Mary's and east and Northeast Coast.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Southwest Coast, East
Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank
and Funk Island Bank - northwestern half.
