Issued 10:00 AM NDT 30 August 2016 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 10:00 a.m. NDT today deepening low 987 mb located near The
Bonavista Peninsula.
By 10:00 a.m. NDT Wednesday departing low 984 mb located south
of Greenland.

By 3:00 a.m. NDT Wednesday approaching ridge located south of
the Maritimes.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:51 AM NDT 30 August 2016 An intense low pressure system near the Bonavista Peninsula will
continue to deepen as it moves eastward through the Funk Island Bank
today. Strong to gale force southwesterly to northeasterly winds
ahead of the low shift to gale to storm force northwesterlies in its
wake.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast
- Cape St. John and south, and the Northern Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except Belle
Isle Bank - northern half.

At 10:00 A.M. NDT, hurricane Gaston is located near 33.2 degrees
north and 53.3 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 85 knots.
Minimum central pressure is about 971 MB. It is currently moving
northeastward at 5 knots.

Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian forecast waters.

At 10:00 A.M. NDT, tropical depression eight is located near 34.1
degrees north and 74.8 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30
knots. Minimum central pressure is about 1010 MB. It is currently
moving northwestward at 5 knots.

The depression could become a tropical storm today, and is forecast
to cross the Southern Grand Banks on Friday.
