Issued 10:00 AM NST 6 February 2016 Today Tonight and Sunday At 10:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 978 mb located over the
Northeast Coast of Newfoundland.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Sunday low 952 mb located east of the Marine
District.

By 3:00 a.m. NST Sunday approaching low 1005 mb located over Quebec.

At 10:00 a.m. NST today ridge located over the northeastern
United States.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Sunday quasi-stationary ridge located on a line
east-west over the southern Grand Banks.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:46 AM NST 6 February 2016 An intensifying low pressure system over the Northeast Coast of
Newfoundland will track northeastward through the Funk Island Bank
today and continue out to sea tonight.

Over western waters strong to gale force northwesterlies will
diminish today. Southerly gales over eastern waters ahead of the low
will veer to gale to storm force west to northwesterlies in its wake.
The northwesterlies are expected to reach hurricane force over the
Funk Island Bank. Winds will begin to diminish late today as the low
pulls away from the district.

A second low pressure system will approach from the west on Sunday
and cross the Gulf of St. Lawrence to lie over the Great Northern
Peninsula Sunday evening. Strong to gale force southerlies ahead of
the low will veer to strong to gale force westerlies in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Funk Island Bank. Storm warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast, Northeast Coast - Cape St.
John and south and the Northern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in
effect for all remaining waters except Strait of Belle Isle - western
half.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, the Gulf waters, East Coast - north
of Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island
Bank.
