Wind northeast 55 knots diminishing to northeast 30 early this evening and to southerly 10 to 15 late this evening. Wind increasing to southerly 25 after midnight and to southwest 35 Wednesday morning. Wind diminishing to westerly 25 to 30 Wednesday afternoon.

Snow and ice pellets changing to showers late this afternoon then to a few flurries Wednesday afternoon. Risk of thunderstorms today. Fog patches forming early this evening and dissipating early Wednesday morning. Visibility 1 mile or less in precipitation and in fog patches.

Temperatures minus 2 rising to plus 5 after midnight then falling to zero Wednesday afternoon.

By 10:00 a.m. AST Wednesday low 988 mb located over Nova Scotia.

At 3:00 a.m. AST Wednesday low 998 mb located over Cape Breton
Island.
By 10:30 a.m. AST Wednesday low 998 mb located over Cabot Strait.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 10:05 AM AST 27 January 2015 An intensifying area of low pressure southeast of Cape Cod will
gradually approach the district today. The low will then weaken as it
crosses Nova Scotia tonight to lie near Cabot Strait Wednesday
evening. Storm force east or northeasterlies will develop over most
waters as the low approaches. Winds will shift to generally strong to
gale force westerlies in its wake. Winds will diminish from west to
east during the day Wednesday.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
All waters except Georges Bank..West Scotian Slope and Anticosti
where a gale warning is in effect.

Freezing spray warnings are in effect for Fundy..Grand
Manan..Eastern shore..Fourchu..Cabot Strait..Northumberland
Strait..Gulf-Magdalen and Anticosti.

Higher than normal water levels and possible ice pile up can be
expected at high tide this afternoon and early this evening along the
western part of the Northumberland Strait.
