Marine Weather StatementIssued 7:42 PM ADT 17 August 2017 A low pressure system over Northeastern Newfoundland will continue to
intensify tonight as it moves slowly away from the marine district.
Strong to gale force west to northwesterlies will gradually diminish
on Friday as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Banquereau-northern half and Cabot Strait.
At 8:00 P.M. ADT, departing post-tropical storm Gert was located
Near 46.6 degrees north and 43.2 degrees west, and moving
east-northeast at 34 knots. Maximum sustained winds were 55 knots and
