Issued 8:00 PM ADT 29 August 2016 Tonight and Tuesday At 8:00 p.m. ADT tonight low 1002 mb located east of Anticosti
Island.
By 3:00 a.m. ADT Tuesday deepening low 996 mb located over
Newfoundland.

At 8:00 p.m. ADT tonight intensifying tropical depression 8 1011
mb located at 33.7N 73.4W.
By 10:00 a.m. ADT Tuesday tropical depression 8 1010 mb located
at 34.4N 75.0W.

At 8:00 p.m. ADT tonight Hurricane Gaston 968 mb located at
31.3N 55.2W.
By 10:00 a.m. ADT Tuesday Hurricane Gaston 975 mb located at
31.9N 53.7W.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:46 PM ADT 29 August 2016 A low pressure system east of Anticosti Island will move across
Newfoundland tonight. Strong to gale force northwesterlies will
persist tonight then diminish on Tuesday.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Banquereau, Cabot Strait, Gulf Magdalen, and Anticosti.

As of 8:00 PM ADT, hurricane Gaston is located near 31.3 degrees
north and 55.2 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 95 knots.
Minimum central pressure is about 968 MB. Gaston is moving
north-northeast at 3 knots.

Note that Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian waters.

As of 8:00 PM ADT tropical depression 8 is located near 33.7 degrees
north and 74.4 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30 knots.
Minimum central pressure is about 1011 MB. It is currently moving
northwest at 5 knots.

The depression could become a tropical storm tonight. There is
uncertainty about the development of the storm, and whether it will
have any effect on Canadian waters. There are some indications it may
dissipate before reaching our waters.
