southeastern Marine District.
At 10:00 a.m. ADT Monday low 1007 mb located near Anticosti Island.
By 8:00 p.m. ADT Monday deepening low 999 mb located east of
Marine Weather StatementIssued 8:00 PM ADT 28 August 2016 An intensifying low pressure system approaching from Quebec will
cross the Gulf of St. Lawrence on Monday. This will give strong south
to southwest winds ahead of the low, shifting to strong to possibly
gale force northwesterlies over parts of the gulf and eastern waters.
Warnings may be required for late Monday.
As of 8:00 PM ADT, hurricane Gaston is located near 30.8 degrees
north and 55.1 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 100 knots.
Minimum central pressure is about 962 MB. It is currently moving
northwest at 4 knots.
Note that Gaston is forecast to pass well south of Canadian forecast
Tropical depression 8 has formed west-southwest of Bermuda. As of
3:00 PM ADT the depression is located near 32.0 degrees north
And 71.5 degrees west. Maximum sustained winds are 30 knots. Minimum
central pressure is about 1010 MB. It is currently moving west at 8
The depression is expected to become tropical storm Hermine sometime
Monday. At this point in time it's too soon to determine what, if
any, impacts it will have on Canadian waters.
