Warnings

Watches (In effect)

Squall watch in effect

Anticosti

Issued 6:16 PM ADT 26 August 2016 Conditions are favourable for the development of squalls with wind gusts up to 45 knots, frequent lightning, hail and poor to very poor visibility in thunderstorms heavy at times.

An organized line of thunderstorms, along a cold front, is moving across the St. Lawrence River and the Bay of Chaleur east into Anticosti and Gulf- Magdalene. Winds from this system may exceed 40 knots. Winds should diminish after the cold front goes through.

Poor to very poor visibility may contribute to voyage delays and make marine navigation hazardous. Vessels without lightning protection should make their way to shore immediately. Mariners are advised to prepare for potential squalls. Vulnerable vessels are most at risk and should seek safe harbour if underway.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. For more information monitor Canadian Coast Guard radio or Weatheradio stations.
