By 3:30 a.m. ADT Friday departing Post-tropical Storm Gert 990 mb
located at 48.4N 39.8W.

At 3:30 p.m. ADT today low 1002 mb located over the eastern Gulf
of St. Lawrence.
By 10:00 a.m. ADT Friday low 994 mb located east of Newfoundland.

At 8:00 p.m. ADT tonight ridge located on a line north-south over
New England.
By 8:00 p.m. ADT Friday ridge located on a line north-south over
Nova Scotia.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:11 PM ADT 17 August 2017 A low pressure system over the Eastern Gulf of St Lawrence will
Merge with another system over Newfoundland tonight and intensify
giving strong to gale force westerlies over much of the district.
Winds will gradually diminish on Friday as a ridge of high pressure
builds in from the west.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Fourchu, Banquereau-northern half and Cabot Strait.

Marine interests are also advised that the combination of cool air,
warm waters and favourable atmospheric conditions will give the
potential for waterspout development over the Gulf of St Lawrence
waters for the remainder of this afternoon and evening.

At 3:30 P.M. ADT, hurricane Gert was located near 44.6 degrees
North and 46.7 degrees west, or 295 nautical miles east-southeast
Of Cape Race, Newfoundland. Gert was moving east-northeast at
31 knots. Maximum sustained winds were 70 knots and central
Pressure was 978 MB.
Gert is expected to become a post-tropical system by this evening.
