Large hail can damage vessels and cause injury. Vessels without lightning protection should make their way to shore immediately. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Issued 10:36 PM EST 24 February 2017 A cold front is expected to move into Ontario from Michigan this evening. Conditions are expected to be favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms along and ahead of the cold front. These thunderstorms may be capable of producing strong wind gusts of 35 to 50 kts and large hail.

Mariners are advised to prepare for potential squalls. Vulnerable vessels are most at risk and should seek safe harbour if underway.
