Wind southeast 50 to 65 knots diminishing to southwesterly 15 to 25 early this afternoon then increasing to southeast 30 to 40 after midnight. Wind veering to southwest 25 to 35 near noon Friday then increasing to southeast 40 to 50 Friday evening.

Rain changing to a few showers this evening with risk of thunderstorms.

Issued 4:00 AM PST 17 December 2014 Today Tonight and Thursday At 4:00 a.m. PST today weakening frontal system located on a line
north-south over central Vancouver Island.

At 4:00 a.m. PST today trough located over Bowie.
By 4:00 p.m. PST today trough located on a line north-south over
Hecate Strait.

At 9:30 p.m. PST tonight frontal system located off the offshore
waters.
By 4:00 p.m. PST Thursday frontal system located on a line
northwest-southeast over Queen Charlotte Sound.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 8:12 AM PST 18 December 2014 An intense frontal system is moving across the BC coast today. Ahead
of the front, storm to hurricane force southeasterlies over northern
and central waters will shift to strong southerlies in its wake.
Strong southeasterlies over the inner South Coast waters will rise to
gale force this afternoon. Very high seas will build, reaching up to
9 metres over northern and central waters.

On Friday a trough of low pressure will track across northern waters.
Ahead of the trough, gale force southeasterlies will develop over the
offshore waters tonight and spread to the North Coast Friday morning.
Winds will shift to strong to gale force southwesterly behind the
trough.
