Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 9:30 PM PDT 9 October 2015 Tonight and Saturday At 9:30 p.m. PDT tonight departing low 980 mb located over the
southern Alaska panhandle.

At midnight PDT tonight low 986 mb located west of Explorer.
By 8:00 p.m. PDT Saturday departing low 987 mb located over northern
BC interior.

At 5:00 p.m. PDT Saturday building ridge located over the northern
offshore waters.
By 11:00 p.m. PDT Saturday building ridge located from the North
Coast to Vancouver Island.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:29 PM PDT 9 October 2015 Stormy conditions will prevail over the next few days as a series of
lows and frontal systems affect the BC coast.

The next low pressure centre in the series will cross the central
offshore waters overnight and will deepen to about 984 millibars as
it moves northeastward through Hecate Strait Saturday afternoon. The
low will bring gale force southerlies followed by gale force
northwesterlies over the central part of the coast. A trough of low
pressure moving through the South Coast Saturday afternoon will bring
strong to gale force south or southeast winds followed by strong to
gale force westerlies. Winds will then ease over all areas on
Saturday night as a ridge of high pressure reaches the coast.

Another intense storm will move in on Sunday, bringing widespread
storm force winds over central and northern waters.
