over Queen Charlotte Sound.
By 8:00 p.m. PDT tonight weakening ridge located on a line
northeast-southwest over Queen Charlotte Sound.

At 10:30 a.m. PDT today frontal system located over northern Bowie.
By 4:00 p.m. PDT today dissipating frontal system located over
Haida Gwaii.

At 7:00 a.m. PDT Saturday cold front located over Queen Charlotte
Sound.
By 7:00 p.m. PDT Saturday departing cold front located over the
South Coast.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 10:16 AM PDT 6 May 2016 A ridge of high pressure responsible for strong to gale force
northwest winds over portions of the southern waters today will
weaken tonight. Winds will lower slightly to moderate to strong
northwest.

A frontal wave over Northern Bowie is giving southeast gale force
winds to areas northwest of Haida Gwaii late this morning. Winds will
abate this evening.

On Saturday morning, a cold front will develop over Queen Charlotte
Sound and move southeast across the South Coast. In its wake, strong
to gale force northwest winds will develop Saturday afternoon over
southern waters. A ridge building behind the cold front late Saturday
afternoon will enhance the winds through Juan de Fuca Strait Saturday
evening to westerly gale force.
