Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 4:00 AM PST 10 December 2016 Today Tonight and Sunday At 4:00 a.m. PST today quasi-stationary ridge located over BC
interior.

At 4:00 a.m. PST today low 998 mb located over northern Explorer.
By 10:00 a.m. PST Sunday weakening low 1006 mb located 30 miles
southwest of Tofino.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:59 AM PST 10 December 2016 An Arctic ridge of high pressure will remain over the British
Columbia Interior and will tend to build over the northern and
Central Interior tonight and Sunday. Meanwhile, a weak area of low
pressure will lie off the west coast of Vancouver Island and will
weaken during the period.

Gale force outflow winds are expected through the mainland inlets
through today and will reach storm force Sunday over the north and
Central Coast. Cold temperatures well below freezing will produce
moderate freezing spray through Douglas Channel and Portland Inlet.
Gale force winds are also forecast near the low centre, mainly off
Northwestern Vancouver island and over Explorer.
