Issued 4:00 AM PST 17 January 2017 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 6:00 a.m. PST today low 984 mb located over northwestern
By 10:00 p.m. PST tonight weakening low 973 mb located 90 miles
west of Langara.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:59 AM PST 17 January 2017 An area of low pressure will cross the northern part of Explorer
early this morning and will track northward off the west coast of
Haida Gwaii during the day today to lie about 90 miles west of
Langara Island by late this evening.

Gale to storm force southeasterly winds currently over the southern
and central waters will spread northward into Hecate Strait this
morning as the low moves northward. Meanwhile, strong to gale
Force winds are expected north and west of the low's track over the
central and northern offshore waters and off the west coast of Haida
Gwaii. Winds will ease off to moderate to strong over most areas by
Wednesday afternoon.
