Issued 10:30 AM PST 21 January 2017 Today Tonight and Sunday At 10:30 a.m. PST today building ridge located over northern
BC interior.

At 10:30 a.m. PST today low 980 mb located 300 miles west of
Astoria.
By 4:00 p.m. PST today weakening low 984 mb located 240 miles
southwest of Cape St. James.

At 4:00 p.m. PST Sunday approaching low 972 mb located 300 miles
west of Astoria.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 10:15 AM PST 21 January 2017 A weak area of low pressure centred to the southwest of the Explorer
region will drift northwestward towards Bowie during the day today
then dissipate tonight. A deeper and more intense low will take its
place south of Explorer on Sunday. Meanwhile, an Arctic ridge of high
pressure will lie over the Northern BC Interior.

Moderate to strong east or northeast winds will tend to veer to
southeast over most areas today as the leading low shifts
northwestward with marginal gale force southeasterlies possible over
some of the southern and central waters today. Gale to storm force
easterlies will develop off the west coast of Vancouver Island on
Sunday ahead of the next low. Strong to gale force northeast outflow
winds will develop through the mainland inlets as the ridge builds.
